Timeline

Design/Bidding: Fall 2022 – Winter 2023
Construction: Spring – Fall 2023

Why is this project being done?

The existing water main and road are in poor condition.  A new water main will be installed to improve service to residents, and the streets will be repaved.

The city has purchased the vacant parcel at the south end of Madison Place. On this parcel a “T” will be constructed to help trash/plow truck turnaround.

There is also a chance to improve pedestrian and vehicle safety at the large Madison/Eberwhite/Mt. Pleasant/Mt. Vernon intersection.

Work to be done

  • Spring 2023 tree trimming.

  • A new water main will be constructed parallel to the existing main. Water service is not planned to be interrupted during the initial installation.

  • Once installed, the new main will be pressure tested, chlorinated, and flushed.

  • The new water main will be connected to the existing water distribution system. Services will be switched over from the old main. Residents will be notified in advance of this work, as water service will need to be interrupted for a time.

  • Madison will be repaved in the construction area. This will include a turnaround at the dead end, and intersection improvements at Eberwhite Blvd.

Traffic impacts

  • Local access will be maintained within the project area.

  • Due to limited space on Madison for construction equipment and materials, traffic will be slow with some delays.

Funding source

The water main and paving are being paid for using City Water System Funds, and the City Street, Sidewalk, and Bridge Millage. Solid Waste funds will be used to construct the vehicle turnaround.
