​In September 2021, the Renters Commission was established ​by the City Council to advise the City Council and City Administrator on matters affecting renters in the City of Ann Arbor.  ​​​
Renters C​​ommission Membership

The voting membership of the commission is representative of various renter perspectives in the City, such as student​, youth, low-income, LGBTQ, immigrant, perso​ns with criminal records, persons receiving rental subsidies, cooperative or group housing, tenant advocacy groups, persons who have experienced homelessness, or historically underrepresented groups, and includes one attorney with experience representing renters and advocating renters' interests.

Renters C​o​mmission Meetings

​​​​The Renters Commission meets on the t​hird Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. electronically using Zoom. Regular meetings will be broadcast live on CTN Cable Channel 16, ATT Channel 99, and online at a2gov.org/watchCTN

  • ​​Written comments may be submitted in advance of a Renters Commission by email to [email protected]​. Comments received by noon the day of the meeting will be distributed to the commission.​​ Last name and email address will be redacted from comments received.

By the Friday evening preceding the meeting, the Renters Commission meeting agenda is published online​.  The typical order of business of Renters Commission meetings is as follows:

  2. Roll Call
  3. ​Approval of Agenda
  4. Approval of Minutes
  5. Public Comment (three minutes per speaker)
  6. Regular Business
  7. Communications
  8. Adjournment​
