Commission Overview
The Independent Community Police Oversight Commission was established as a step in reframing the relationship that the residents of Ann Arbor have with the police and an investment in the smart, equitable, community-oriented policing that the Ann Arbor Police Department strives for and that our community deserves.

The Tuesday, June 23, 2026 ICPOC meeting is canceled. Per the commissions meeting calendar, there are no commission meetings in July and August. The next commission meeting will be September.

The Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) is nationally recognized as a leader in developing training and ethical standards for law enforcement officers. Governor Gretchen Whitmer recently expanded the commission to bring community voices to the table to improve community-police relations. Ann Arbor resident Lisa Jackson is among the three inaugural community members to join MCOLES, bringing civilian oversight expertise and adding community representation to the policy-making table.
