Mission Statement

Ann Arbor Housing Commission (AAHC) seeks to provide desirable housing and related supportive services for low-income individuals and families on a transitional and/or permanent basis. AAHC will partner with housing and service providers to build healthy residential communities and promote an atmosphere of pride and responsibility.

The Housing Choice Voucher (formerly Section 8) Waiting List is CLOSED at this time.
Public Housing Waiting Lists are CLOSED at this time.
Pear St. Project Based Voucher Waiting List is CLOSED at time.
 
Application recieved for the Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List have been reviewed. 500 applicants were selected for placement on the waiting list using a lottery based system.  Notifications were mailed on 11/12/12. If you have not received notification you may check your status by calling (734) 794-6720.    

We apologize for any inconveniences that you may have experienced during the opening of our waiting list. Weather conditions caused the City of Ann Arbor website to go down. There will be no Section 8 FSS Program Briefing Class held on April 29th.  Please contact the Section 8 FSS Coodinator, Jeanette McDonald, to schedule to attend another class.   

Annual Agency Action Plan FY 2013/2014 & Amended 5-Year Plan (includes Rental Assistance Demonstration Program)

The Ann Arbor Housing Commission (AAHC) has developed its Agency Plan for FY2013-2014 in compliance with the Quality Housing and Work Responsibility Act of 1998. A Public Hearing will be held on March 20, 2013, at Miller Manor Community Room, 727 Miller Ave, Ann Arbor, 48103 at 6:00 PM. It is available for review from February 25, 2013 to April 10, 2013 at following locations in Ann Arbor:

·            Miller Manor-AAHC Main Office, 727 Miller Avenue, 48103

·            AAHC Admin and Financial Office, 406 N. Ashley, 48103

·            Baker Commons, 106 Packard, 48104

 The Commission’s hours of operation are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Rental Assistance Demonstration Program Public Meeting Notice and FAQ 

All Public Housing Residents: 

The AAHC has completed its revision of its lease and encourages residents to review the new lease. The new lease and a redlined version comparing the old and new lease are available on the website at www.a2gov.org/housingcommission  and a hard copy is available at the Miller, Baker, and Ashley offices.  The AAHC will take the proposed lease to the Board on January 16, 2012 for approval. If approved by the Board, the lease will take effect a minimum of 60 days later. The projected start date for the new lease is April 1, 2013. All tenants will be required to sign the new lease in order to maintain tenancy.

The AAHC is considering applying to HUD to convert public housing units to long-term section 8 units in order to access private capital to rehabilitate the public housing units. Changes to the Ann Arbor Housing Commission Flat Rent Schedule will be made effective January 1st.  A public notice and review period is scheduled for October 1st, 2012 through October 31st, 2012.  A copy of the Flat Rent Analysis, Notice Letter, and Comment Form can be found here.

You can now listen to our Administrative Plan and Policies as well as view them.  To do so:  

 Turn on the Read Out Loud function by going into the Adobe document à clicking on View à clicking on Read Out Loud à then clicking on Activate Read Out Loud.   

After that function starts up, you can either scroll through the document and the computer voice speaks the words or highlight an area to be spoken by the computer.
