Jewett Memorial Dedication Wednesday, Aug. 3 at the Ann Arbor Farmers Market

Archived News Release: July 26, 2016 - On Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016, the City of Ann Arbor Public Art Commission will hold the dedication of the Coleman Jewett Memorial at 6 p.m. at its temporary location at the Ann Arbor Farmers Market (315 Detroit St.), on the Fourth Street side of the market, near the market office building.

Artist Tad McKillop, a sculptor/foundry owner, will unveil his creation of a pair of bronze cast Adirondack chairs. Jewett worked as a teacher then principal at Tappan Middle School over three decades. He is described fondly as the consummate community member — active, engaged, caring, as well as an artist, teacher, coach, mentor and counselor. The community is invited to the event to join in honoring his memory. This memorial is partially funded with private donations.
