Provide Feedback for the City of Ann Arbor PROS Plan

Archived News Release: July 25, 2016 - The City of Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation Open Space Plan (PROS) is being updated for 2016–2020, and input is again being sought from the community. The draft plan incorporates feedback the city received via the 1,034 responses to an online survey, which was conducted this past winter, and a public meeting last March at the Ann Arbor Senior Center, where survey results as well as goals and objectives were shared and discussed.

Currently, residents have an opportunity to review and submit feedback for the PROS Plan draft, now available on the city website at www.a2gov.org/prosplan. Comments and questions can be sent via email to: [email protected] .

The PROS Plan is an element of the City Master Plan and provides an inventory of existing parks and facilities; describes the relationship between the park and recreation system, surrounding municipalities and recreation providers; identifies park and recreation needs and deficiencies; and proposes major capital park projects for existing and new parks, based on citizen input. Examples of parks projects or improvements that originated from the 2011-2015 PROS Plan include the Skatepark at Veterans Memorial Park, reconstruction of a mile of the Border to Border Trail in Gallup Park, and playground renovations at nine neighborhood parks including Arbor Oaks, Scheffler, Placid Way and Burr Oak parks.

Input will be gathered until Monday, Sept. 5, after which additional revisions will be made to the PROS Plan draft. The plan will then be finalized and reviewed by the Park Advisory Commission in October/November, before the PROS Plan is submitted to Ann Arbor City Council for consideration this-coming winter.
