Meeting and Survey to Explore Support for a New Dog Park

As identified in the City of Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation Open Space Plan (an element of the City Master Plan), the Park Advisory Commission is following up on the expressed need for more dog parks, and one specifically near downtown.

Archived News Release: February 9, 2016 - A committee made up of citizens, Park Advisory Commission members and staff has been evaluating potential sites for a dog park near the downtown using the Recommendations and Guidelines for Dog Park Selection, Design, Operations and Maintenance, a product of public input. The highest-rated park within ¼ mile of the Downtown Development Authority district was Broadway Park, located between Broadway Street, the railroad/Depot Street and the Huron River.

The City of Ann Arbor is holding a public meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 6:30 p.m. at Larcom City Hall, sixth floor conference room (301 E. Huron St.) to discuss creating a dog park at Broadway Park. In addition, a brief survey is available to gather input (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HXJGGYM).

Share your thoughts via the online survey and/or attend the meeting to help determine whether there is public support for a new dog park at this location. Please direct any questions to Amy Kuras, park planner, [email protected].
