ANN ARBOR, Mich., May 9, 2014 — People from throughout the city will be rolling up their sleeves on Saturday, May 17, for the 2014 Adopt-A-Park Kick-off event at area parks. From 9 a.m.–noon, volunteers will participate in planting, mulching, general clean up — and, of course, camaraderie and fun. The kick-off event encourages neighbors to partner with one another, and the city, in ongoing efforts to ensure their parks are well cared for, safe and that the park features continue to meet the neighborhood’s needs.
Parks participating in the kick-off event include: Allmendinger, Bromley, Burr Oak, Cloverdale, Glacier Highlands, Greenbrier, Kilburn and Scheffler. Any updates to this list can be found at www.a2gov.org/adopt-a-park. All ages can participate.
The Adopt-a-Park program promotes ongoing community spirit and involvement in the advocacy, upkeep and enjoyment of city parks. For more information on the kick-off event or adopting one of Ann Arbor’s over 160 city parks, contact an Adopt-A-Park Program coordinator at 734.794.6627 or email@example.com.
The Adopt-A-Park Kick-off is part of a larger effort to beautify the city on Saturday, May 17. Held at the same time, the 26th Annual Downtown Blooms Day event invites volunteers to plant flowers, mulch planters, and help spruce up the downtown areas. Interested individuals, families, youth groups, and other organizations are welcome to drop in on this event. To volunteer, please contact GIVE 365, 734.794.6230 extension 42510, or email firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information, visit www.a2gov.org/volunteer.
