The Domestic Violence Project, Inc./SAFE House provides services and shelter for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children in Washtenaw County.

Help Information:
  • 24-hour hotline (Interpretation in 150 languages available)

  • 24-hour outreach teams who respond to pages from police and hospitals about domestic violence

  • 24-hour sexual assault response teams who respond to calls from police and hospitals about sexual assault

  •  Shelter

  • Counseling

  • Help with specific needs such as housing, child care and immigration

  • Legal information and advocacy

  • Support groups in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti 

  • Programs for children

  • Medical care for survivors and their children

Community Education Services:
  • Community presentations on domestic violence, sexual assault and related issues

  • Professional training, education and consultation

ADA stands for Alternatives to Domestic Aggression. ADA specializes in working with men to stop their use of abuse or battering, with the purpose of ending domestic violence and abuse in our community. ADA is a program of Catholic Social Services of Washtenaw County. We offer services on a non-denominational basis, so we work with people of any, or no, religious affiliations.

The Washtenaw County
Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Program:


The SART Program provides a coordinated and immediate 24/7 multi-disciplinary team response to those victimized by sexual assault.

24/7 SART Team Members:
  • A Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE)

  • A sexual assault crisis advocate, and

  • A law enforcement officer

24/7 SART Program Services:

SART Program services are delivered around the clock through SANE exam sites in the emergency departments at the The University of Michigan (734) 936-6666 or St. Joseph Mercy hospitals (734) 712-3000.

The Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center (SAPAC) provides services for survivors of sexual assault, sexual harassment, stalking and relationship violence (emotional, physical and sexual) in the University of Michigan community. SAPAC provides services to U of M students and their partners/spouses, and to faculty and staff.
