The City of Ann Arbor Fire Department participates in many community events throughout the year. Personnel host tours, attend ice cream socials, drive a fire truck in a parade, and many other public education events for children and adults of all ages.

"I am writing to thank you for setting up the visit with fire engine 5 and the firefighters who came to visit our class.Captain Budd, Lt. Ferris and Firefighter Cue were perfect with our students, speaking with them about fire safety, demonstrating techniques like Stop, Drop and Roll and Stay Low and Go. We really enjoyed seeing the engine ladder and all the equipment that is on the truck. When Captain Budd showed us the breathing gear, it helped students understand how dangerous fire and smoke are.It is always wonderful to have community helpers work with our students. The lessons learned are invaluable and will hopefully help students react appropriately in dangerous situations. Thank you and your fellow firefighters for the work you do each day and for being willing to come into our world and share!" - Special education teacher
