Geddes Ave Sanitary Sewer Project (2011)

Last Updated 4/11/2011

Field Survey

Beginning in April 2011, surveyors will be in the neighborhood collecting information for the topographic survey.  Trees may be tagged with small number tags.  This is for identification purposes only.  The topographic survey is a necessary step in completing any detailed design that may be generated.  The survey itself will extend throughout the entire area but does not mean that all those areas will be included in any future sewer design.

The location of the sewer extension has not yet been determined.

If you have any questions regarding the survey or schedule, please contact Elizabeth Rolla (erolla@a2gov.org).

Project Overview

The City of Ann Arbor is currently in the planning phase for a project that will involve connecting several properties along Geddes Avenue east of Huntington Drive to a city sanitary sewer system. The project will replace the septic systems for the affected properties.

Focus Group Meeting

A focus group meeting regarding the Geddes Ave Sanitary Sewer Project was held September 15, 2010 at Angell Elementary School.

This was a follow-up to the August 11 neighborhood meeting and was intended for those who reside within the area currently not served by sanitary sewer and who therefore might be more directly impacted by the project.  There was discussion of the alternatives for the extent of the sewer, financial impacts, and other issues that come up.

Residents were divided in their preferences.  Some wanted the sewer to be extended to their property as soon as possible and others did not want the sewer extended due to the resulting financial impacts.  This division was confirmed by residents' follow-up correspondence to the City.

August 11 Neighborhood Meeting Summary
