Description of Work:
This project will include resurfacing of the road pavement to eliminate pot holes, provide a smoother driving surface, and increase the service life of the road. It will also include the replacement of sidewalk ramps and some sections of sidewalk. The following longer sections of sidewalk will be replaced with a 5-ft wide concrete sidewalk: 1) The path on the east side of Packard between Eastover and Independence. 2) The sidewalk on the south side of Packard near Shady Lane.
Packard will also be restriped from four lanes to three lanes with bike lanes to Kimberly Road (just west of Eisenhower). This 4-to-3 lane conversion will match the current configuration north of Kensington Drive.
Weather permitting, construction is expected to begin August 19, 2013 and last approximately 10-12 weeks.
Temporary Construction Traffic Control Plan:
On Packard, traffic will be reduced to two lanes; one inbound and one outbound.
Local access for vehicular traffic and pedestrian traffic will be maintained except when vehicular traffic may be temporarily restricted due to paving or concrete work. Businesses/residents will be notified if a driveway is affected.
There will be days during the project when Stone School will be closed at Packard. Lighted message boards will be changed to notify commuters ahead of this closure.
Pedestrian traffic will be maintained on at least one side of the street during this project.
To maintain the safety of all, please reduce speeds and drive cautiously through work zones.
We thank you in advance for your patience as these necessary public infrastructure improvements are completed.
This project is funded through the City of Ann Arbor's Street Resurfacing Millage and Federal Surface Transportation Funds. There will be no cost to property owners.
