Field Operations & Fleet Services
Project Description and Schedule:
The City of Ann Arbor completed construction on a Field Operations and Maintenance Facility at the W.R. Wheeler Service Center on 4251 Stone School Road near East Ellsworth. The grand opening was held Saturday, September 29, 2007. The project came in within budget and ahead of schedule.
The project includes an operations building (39,000 sq. ft.), vehicle storage building (65,000 sq. ft.), maintenance garage (40,000 sq. ft.), salt storage dome, and fueling facility. A restricted access drive to Ellsworth Road is now available opposite Shadowood Drive, as well as two employee/visitor access drives onto Stone School Road. Stone School Rd. is now paved from Ellsworth to Addington. Field and maintenance staff from facilities formerly located at 721 N. Main, 415 W. Washington, and 2000 S. Industrial use the new facility.
