AIRPORT LAYOUT PLAN
From time to time, the City of Ann Arbor must
approve an Airport Layout Plan (ALP) that visually depicts the current and anticipated future layout
of the airport property. This document is used to
strike a balance between the aviation needs of the airport's users and those of the surrounding
properties. The City most recently approved the
ALP on September 22, 2008.

ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT
The draft environmental assessment document has been completed and the public comment period closed. Public comments have been addressed and the document submitted to the FAA for review. The draft document is available for download at the Airport News & Projects page. |
The Ann Arbor Airport is a municipally owned airport operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The airport maintains a 3,500' concrete runway and a 2,750' seasonal turf runway to serve public and business flights, medical flights, flight instruction and charter services. The Ann Arbor Tower, operated by the FAA, provides air traffic control services daily from 8 am to 8 pm. The Airport is home to over 170 aircraft and handles about 57,000 operations (take-off/landings) per year. These aircraft are housed in 150 T-hangars, 6 new box hangars and a few other hangars owned and leased out by the Airport. Tie down spaces on the airport ramp are also available on a short term (daily/overnight) or long term (monthly/annual) basis.

NOISE ABATEMENT PROGRAM
The Ann Arbor Airport has implemented a Noise Abatement Program to help reduce noise impacts in the area surrounding the airport. This voluntary program encourages pilots to operate their aircraft in the quietest manner possible without compromising flight safety. Pilot education and cooperation are the key to the program.
Educational materials and pilot brochures have been distributed to the local flight schools and based pilots. Posters outlining the procedures have been installed at the terminal and FBO's and airfield signage has also been installed. Pilot brochures are also available to itinerant pilots using the airport at the terminal building and airport FBO's.
