Michigan Green Schools Certification
Be a Michigan Green School! This is an annual statewide certification program that encourages all public and private schools to participate in easy-to- administer energy saving and environmental activities. Interested schools participate in at least 10 points from 24 broad options. Each year schools apply to earn Green, Emerald, or Evergreen School status by completing environmental activities satisfying 10, 15, and 20 points respectively.
In the Washtenaw/Livingston area, school applications are accepted electronically through this website between January 1st and March 1st. After March 1st, applications are reviewed by the Livingston and Washtenaw Green Schools coordinator. Schools achieving Green School status are notified before Earth Day, April 22nd, and are posted on the Michigan Green Schools page and may display a Michigan Green Schools flag.

Please note: All schools located in Ann Arbor's city limits receive weekly single-stream recycling pickups at no charge. if you are uncertain about your recycling collection program, please contact recycle@a2gov.org.
