There will be no interruption of weekly solid waste and recycling collection services on Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 15, 2010. Pickups will be as normal Monday-Friday for this week. City Hall offices and the Drop-Off Station, only, will be closed on Feb. 15.
Christmas tree recycling options: Free drop-off area available next to the Drop-Off Station from Dec. 15, 2009 to Jan. 30, 2010. Residential curbside pickups of properly prepared evergreen trees will be provided on week from Tues. Jan. 19 through Mon, Jan 25, 2010 on normal solid waste collection days, weather permitting. The weekly curbside compost pickups ended for the growing season and will resume on Monday, April 5, 2010. See the Compostables Collection Web page for specific preparation requirements. NEW US DOT requirements: used household rechargeable batteries must be sealed at the positive end with clear tape before recycling or discarding.
New, reduced hours at the Washtenaw County's Home Toxics Collection Center, 705 N. Zeeb Road near W. Jackson Road will be open the following Saturdays this fall: Sept 12, Oct. 3, Nov. 7, 2009 from 9 a.m. to Noon. Information and scheduling drop-offs by appointment, at 734.222.7874.
