Solid Waste Plan Update 2013-2017
City of Ann Arbor staff and community advisors are developing a five-year Integrated Solid Waste Management Plan this year. The 12-member committee includes volunteer representatives from Ann Arbor residential neighborhoods, businesses, and other key stakeholders.
- City Council is tentatively scheduled to review the draft Solid Waste Plan Update at the Council session on Monday, June 3, 2013. The Environmental Commission accepted the proposed Plan at their Feb. 28, 2013 session.
Draft WASTE LESS: Solid Waste Resource Plan Update 2013-2017 The draft solid waste plan, appendix, and PowerPoint summary are attached below. A printed copy of the draft Plan and Appendix is available for review at the Customer Service Center, Main floor, Larcom City Hall, 301 E. Huron, Ann Arbor 48103, open non-holiday weekdays from 8-5. The preliminary draft plan was revised based on comments and priorities from the public received through the public survey, public forums, and comments received through Feb. 28, 2012. The draft report is tentatively planned to present before City Council on the Monday, April 15 session, 7 p.m. Council Chambers, Larcom City Hall.
Over 1300 Ann Arbor residents responded to a public survey that was posted online and mailed to all city residential addresses in the fall WasteWatcher newsletter. The survey was open from Sept.4 to Oct. 8. Discrepencies in parellell construction for the survey responses in sections 4 and 5 were immediately corrected in the version posted online.
Nearly half of the respondees used the written, mail-back survey option and many chose to write comments in the margins. All of these comments are included in the "written comments" document.
