 Street Maintenance Services - Potholes

Potholes

Every spring, the Street Maintenance Services tackles one of the highest profile issues city government faces - potholes.

  • For pothole repair, you may send in an online request or call 734-99-HOLES.

Potholes are defects caused by water entering the street sub-base through surface cracks. The water freezes in early winter, causing it to expand. Each time the water freezes and then thaws, the street is damaged and potholes are born!

The City of Ann Arbor provides a special "Pothole Busters" program. A citizen-reported pothole will be patched within 24 hours, weather and other activities permitting.

If the pothole poses a public hazard, please report the problem immediately to the Police emergency desk at 9-1-1. State funds are used to finance the pothole program.

Other Services

Street Maintenance is also responsible Snow Removal.
