October 18 Dispensaries in operation before August 5, 2010 that are applying for a license are now required to apply for a Zoning Compliance Permit for Medical Marijuana Dispensaries (see September 30 update below) and apply for a Re-Occupation Permit before their license application will be accepted. The previous requirements stated that an approved Zoning Compliance Permit and approved Temporary Certificate of Occupancy must be attached to the license application.

Though the old application and checklist will still be accepted, revised versions of the application and checklist are available below that reflect these changes. The complete application packet is available from the City Clerk's office on the second floor of City Hall

Due to the recent Court of Appeals decision that medical marijuana cannot be sold through dispensaries (see HERE), applications are still being accepted for existing dispensaries, zoning compliance permits, and re-occupancy permits, but once received they are being placed on hold pending clarification of the court ruling.

The Ann Arbor City Council approved zoning and licensing regulations concerning Medical Marijuana land uses on June 20, 2011.  Links to these ordinances, which go into effect on August 22, 2011, are provided below.

Medical marijuana dispensaries known to the City were mailed a letter on July 1, 2011 requesting proof of operations prior to August 5, 2010 (the date the moratorium on new medical marijuana businesses went into effect). A followup letter was mailed out August 3, 2011.

Medical Marijuana Dispensary License Application forms for dispensaries in operation before August 5, 2010 will be available from the City Clerk's office on the 2nd floor of Larcom City Hall, 301 East Huron Street, beginning at 1pm on August 22.
