Permits: Homeowners are eligible to obtain permits by filing an affidavit affirming they are doing the work themselves. Homeowners must speak with an inspector before obtaining a trade permit.
Permits are required for the following:
- new construction
- alterations
- additions
- garages/carports
- decks
- fences
- replacement windows
- reroofing
- sheds
- any repairs estimated to cost more than $600
- electrical, plumbing, heating/refrigeration work
- grading and site compliance

Building permit fees, which include processing, staff review, and all necessary inspections, are based on the cost of the project. Trade permit fees are based on the actual work being performed.
