Planning and Development Services provides expertise and information to advise and guide the development, redevelopment, construction and preservation of the City of Ann Arbor. The unit provides the following services: 

Planning and Development Services also provides support to the City Planning Commission, the Historic District Commission and all appeals boards.

Building and Rental Housing Services Relocation

We've Moved!  Building and Rental Housing Services moved to a permanent location on the 1st floor of City Hall (301 E. Huron) on Tuesday, November 15, 2011.  All other contact information remains the same.

Permit Desk Hours and Customer Service Changes

The permit desk at 301 E. Huron Street (Larcom City Hall, first floor) is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Rental Housing assistance is from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

For confirmation of scheduled inspections, please use our online system e-TRAKiT http://etrakit.a2gov.org/etrakit2/, or city staff can answer questions after 8 a.m. by phone or in person.

All permit applications needing plan review can take between one (1) to two (2) weeks depending on the size of the project.
