New recycling program piloting in the Ann Arbor ParksWe're proud to announce a partnership with Recycle Ann Arbor to provide single-stream sorting bins in 14 Ann Arbor parks and nature areas. Parks piloting this program include:
• Allmendinger Park
• Argo Nature Area
• Bandemer Park
• Burns Park
• Buhr Park
• Fuller Park
• Frisinger Park
• Island Park
• Mary Beth Doyle Nature Area
• Riverside Park
• Southeast Area Park
• Veterans Memorial Park
• West Park
• Wheeler Park
Glass, metal, plastic bottles & tubs (#1, #2, #4-7) and paper can all go into the single-stream sorting bins. As a reminder, no food waste, Styrofoam, plastic bags or dog waste should go into recycling bins.
Pilot parks were chosen based on the frequency of park users, with special consideration taken into areas with team sport fields, such as baseball and soccer. A pre-pilot waste review was also done and it was noted that considerable recyclable material was present in all the pilot park trash cans, further solidifying the need for recycling.
