Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation Services offers a variety of fun and rewarding volunteer opportunities through our
GIVE 365 Volunteer Program.
The GIVE 365 Program has year round volunteer opportunities for almost every interest, schedule, ability and age. Your level of commitment is up to you! As a volunteer, you can sign-up for our one day events, short -term experiences, or you can become a long-term volunteer in a program that suits your interests.

Become a CIT: Counselor in Training
For the summer we are looking for highly motivated and kid friendly teens ages 13 - 17 to serve as Counselors in Training (CIT). Help our day camp coordinators provide a high quality, fun and safe outdoor experience for our day campers. This wonderful opportunity is for teens who want to further develop their leadership and communication skills as well as gain experience in planning and instructing activities for young children. We are looking for a minimum of a weeklong commitment at one of our 3 day camps; Buhr, Fuller or Gallup. Camp runs Monday to Friday with CIT shifts from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. Shorter shifts proposals will be considered on a case by case basis. A 1 week required CIT training is scheduled for June 3 - June 7th from 5 - 6:30 pm at Cobblestone Farm.

Dedicate your time to a Long-Term Opportunity:
Become a LIT: Lifeguard in Training
We are looking for highly motivated future lifeguards who are 15 years of age. You must be Red Cross Certified in Lifeguarding and CPR for the Professional Rescuer or willing to become certified. As a LIT, you will help our pool staff provide high quality, fun and safe outdoor experience for our daily swimmers. This wonderful opportunity is for those hoping to become lifeguards and who want to further develop their leadership and communication skills as well as gain valuable experience in lifeguarding skills. We are looking for a minimum commitment of a 10 hours per week for the months of July and August , which will include bi-weekly in-service training with the pool staff at one of our three city pools Buhr, Fuller or Veteran’s Memorial. Weekly shifts will be scheduled with your pool supervisor and will be determined based upon your availability and the needs of the pool.
A one-week required LIT training is scheduled for June 24-28 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Buhr Park Pool. Successful completion of this summer program will result in a letter of recommendation for future employment and a certificate of completion.
