Frequently Asked Questions
When is the Farmers Market open?
The Market is open year-round!
January through April: Saturdays 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM
May through December: Wednesdays and Saturdays 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
June through October: Wednesday Evenings 4 PM - 8 PM
What does it mean to be a “producers only” market?
Unlike resale and wholesale markets, the Ann Arbor Farmers Market is producers-only. This means that each vendor selling at the market is the grower, baker, artist, cook, etc. of his/her own items for sale at market. To ensure this proudly-held status, the market employs an inspector who is responsible for visiting farms to verify that the products brought to market are in fact grown by our vendors themselves.
Why are parking spots near the market unavailable? How do I pay for parking at the electronic kiosks?
The farmers market does not control the parking meters but you may direct any concerns or comments to the Downtown Development Authority. To pay, jot down your parking space number, find one of the parking kiosks and follow the instructions on the screen. There are three kiosks located near the market: one on the sidewalk that leads to the market office on 4th Avenue, one in the center of the market, and one by the angled parking spots on Detroit Street.
Where else can I find parking close to the Market?
There are several public parking lots and parking garages within walking distance of the Farmers Market.
4th and Catherine Public Parking - Metered
Ann & Main Public Parking - Metered
1st & Huron Public Parking - Metered
Ann & Ashley Public Parking Garage
4th & Washington Public Parking Garage
What bus would I take to get to the market?
The Farmer's Market is located only 4 blocks from the Blake Transit Center, where routes 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12A, 12B, 15, 16, stop. These routes all run on Saturdays starting at around 8AM and most of them have stops within a block or two of the market. Where can I find change for parking?
The Farmers Market office does not hold change. We suggest making sure you have quarters for the meters before visiting the market or park in one of the nearby garages that take credit cards and larger bills.
Can you tell me if there will be honey/duck eggs/organic kale for sale at the market?
On the day of the market the staff is more than happy to answer this question! The Ann Arbor Farmers Market does not require vendors to inform us of their plans to attend market until the morning of that market day. Please feel free to stop in the market office and ask about which vendors are in that day. If your favorite vendor isn’t at the market, we may be able to give you their public contact information.
Where is the market office?
The market office is a brick building on the south side of the market lot. You can enter from the sidewalk on 4th Avenue or by walking through the market from the south entrance. This is also the place to find public restrooms and a drinking fountain.
I'm a teacher/group leader. Can I bring my students to the market for a field trip?
Yes! The farmers market is a rich environment for active, experiential learning. Check out this handy Field Trip Toolkit we made to help make your self-guided visit a safe and effective experience. Can I use my EBT/Bridge Card at the Farmers Market?
Yes! Stop by the office and our staff will explain how you can use your bridge card to obtain tokens you can spend in the Market like money.
Additionally, from June through November, we can match your Bridge Card dollars up to $20.00 per market day through Double Up Food Bucks, a program of the Fair Food Network. Come ask our staff how you can match your Bridge Card dollars and buy extra fruits and veggies.
Can I use my Credit Card at the Farmers Market?
Although most of our vendors do not accept credit cards, you can purchase $5 tokens using your credit or debit card in the Market Office. There is a $20 minimum purchase, and the tokens can be used just like cash at the market. Credit card tokens do not expire and they can be used on any market day.
I lost something at the Market. Is there any chance you might have it?
We keep a Lost and Found box in our Market Office, and we place items in it when they are turned in. Feel free to stop by and look for your lost item.
How much does it cost to be a vendor at the Farmers Market?
Stall rental rates are $25/stall daily, or $300/stall annually. The annual rate is good for one fiscal year, July 1-June 30.
For the Wednesday Evening Market stall rentals are $10/stall daily, or $200/stall for the evening market season.
