 River Trip Descriptions 

 

The portage is out, the argo Channel is completed and We have New Boats!

     Sit-On-Top Kayaks ~ Sit-In Kayaks  Canoes ~ Rafts ~ Tubes

  • You no longer need to carry your boat around Argo Dam!
  • Argo Channel has small rocky drops with Class 2 water 
  • Watercraft for all levels of paddlers from beginners to experts to enjoy this new section of river with new Sit-On-Top Kayaks for 1 to 3-people and Rafts for 4 to 6-people
  • Tubes available to rent for floating down the Argo Channel and hiking back up to have fun floating down again

Small groups and families can be accommodated without any problems on all but the busiest of days, just check out schedule and come on in. If you are a larger group, please read our group trip reservation page

The Huron River is generally a calm river with a few riffles, islands and rocks. We provide canoes, kayaks, paddles, all sizes of lifejackets, van transportation and a river orientation. No experience necessary.  Bring the friends & family and have a fun day on the river. 

Argo Park to Gallup Park 

1.5 hour trip - 3.7 miles. Departs from Gallup Livery until the Argo Livery opens in May. 

Weekdays: Van transportation leaves at the top of every hour between 10 am and 4 pm. Weekends: Van transportation continuous throughout day. Paddle the river trip anytime between 10 am and 4 pm.

$22/canoes and 2-person kayaks, $18/1-person kayaks, $10/3rd person >12 yrs van transportation included     
The Argo to Gallup trip is our most popular trip with our best river current and a pleasant float through the city of Ann Arbor on down through Gallup Park. *New this year this river trip has been greatly improved with the removal of the portage and the creation of the new Argo Raceway. Your trip begins here with a paddle down a series of small rocky drops before you enter the lazy Huron River. Throughout this trip paddlers will encounter an abundance of wildlife in a natural setting as you paddle through the UM Arboretum and other beautiful river parks.

Barton Dam to Gallup Park 

2.5 hour trip - 5.7 miles. Departs from the Gallup Livery. 

Weekdays: Van transportation leaves at the top of every hour between 10 am and 3 pm. Weekends: Van transportation continuous throughout day. Paddle the river trip anytime between 10 am and 3 pm.

$28/canoes and 2-person kayaks, $24/1-person kayaks, $10/3rd person >12 yrs old, van transportation included
Wonderful trip to spend more time on the river combining the best of our trips starting with a lazy float through scenic Argo Pond followed by a swift paddle through the beautiful river parks! The river trip begins with the Gallup Livery staff driving paddlers and their boats up to the base of Barton Dam to launch you on a scenic trip down through the city of Ann Arbor. *New this year this river trip has been greatly improved with the removal of the portage and the creation of the new Argo Raceway. After paddling through Argo Pond you paddle down through a series of small rocky drops in the Argo Raceway before you enter the lazy Huron River. Throughout this trip paddlers will encounter an abundance of wildlife in a natural setting as you paddle down the lovely Huron River. Our longest river trip without a portage.and you end in Gallup Park where your car is parked.

Delhi Metropark to Argo Park 

4 hour trip - 7.1 miles. Departs from the Argo Livery

Weekdays: Group reservation only. Weekends: 11 am

$34 for canoes and 2-person kayaks, $30 for 1-person kayaks, $10/3rd person >$12 yrs old, van transportation included

This trip begins with a van ride from the Argo Livery up to Delhi Metropark. Your paddle starts with a nice current and after approximately 30 minutes you will encounter a small rapid that may require portaging around depending on water conditions. The remaining 3.5 hours of the trip does not have a river current as you paddle through big Barton Pond and on to Barton Dam where you portage your boat to travel around this historic dam. Continue your paddle on through beautiful Argo Pond ending your trip at the Argo Livery.

Dexter Metropark to Argo Voyager Trip - available by group reservation only

6 hour trip - 10.2 miles. Departs from the Argo Livery

Group reservation only
$42 for canoes and kayaks, we transport you upriver in our vans

This trip is the same as the Delhi Metropark to Argo Park trip but begins 2 hours further upstream to include the beautiful river section from Dexter to Delhi Metroparks.  At Delhi Metropark you must carry your boats around the Delhi rapids.
