River Trip Descriptions

Argo Park to Gallup Park

1.5 hour trip - 3.7 miles.  Departs from Argo Livery

The Argo to Gallup trip is our most popular trip with the best river current and a pleasant float through the city of Ann Arbor on down to Gallup Park. This river trip has been greatly improved with the removal of the portage and the creation of the new Argo Cascades. Only kayaks, rafts and tubes can paddle down the drops and pools of the Argo Cascades. Your trip begins here with a paddle down these small rapids before you enter the lazy Huron River. We can also launch you in canoes at the end of the Cascades to avoid getting wet in the rapids. Throughout this trip paddlers will encounter an abundance of wildlife in a natural setting as you paddle through the UM Arboretum and other beautiful river parks located along this entire stretch of river. You won't believe you are paddling through a city!

Barton Dam to Gallup Park

2.5 hour trip - 5.7 miles. We transport you upriver from the Gallup Livery

Wonderful trip to spend more time on the river combining the best of our trips starting with a lazy float through scenic Argo Pond followed by a swift paddle through beautiful river parks! The river trip begins with the Gallup Livery staff driving paddlers and their boats up to the base of Barton Dam to launch you on this scenic trip. This river trip has been greatly improved with the removal of the portage and the creation of the new Argo Cascades. After paddling through Argo Pond you paddle down through a series of small rocky drops in the Argo Cascades before you enter the lazy Huron River. Throughout this trip paddlers will encounter an abundance of wildlife in a natural setting as you paddle down the lovely Huron River. Our longest river trip without a portage.and you end in Gallup Park where your car is parked.

Delhi Metropark to Argo Park

4 hour trip - 7.1 miles. We transport you upriver from the Argo Livery

This trip begins with a van ride from the Argo Livery up to Delhi Metropark. Your paddle starts with a nice current and after approximately 30 minutes you will encounter a small rapid that may require portaging around depending on water conditions. The remaining 3.5 hours of the trip does not have a river current as you paddle through big Barton Pond and on to Barton Dam where you portage your boat to travel around this historic dam. Continue your paddle on through beautiful Argo Pond ending your trip at the Argo Livery.

Dexter Metropark to Argo Voyager Trip - available by group reservation only

6 hour trip - 10.2 miles. We transport you upriver from the Argo Livery

$42 for canoes and kayaks, by group reservation only

This trip is the same as the Delhi Metropark to Argo Park trip but begins 2 hours further upstream to include the beautiful river section from Dexter to Delhi Metroparks.  At Delhi Metropark you must carry your boats around the Delhi rapids.
