 Film and Video Location Application

In order to assist City staff in helping you with your filming needs on city-owned property and assess what permits and agreements will be necessary to execute, please complete:

City of Ann Arbor film requirements

Prior to a Film and Video Location Application being approved, a meeting with city staff and film and video personnel is required to better identify production needs. At this meeting, film personnel will provide: a film location schedule, filming dates and maps for each location identifying the film activity boundaries. If filming in a city park, maps are available by clicking here.

In addition, a location agreement is required for any filming that will take place on City-owned property. This agreement will be provided by the City Attorney's Office.

Regardless of where filming takes place in Ann Arbor, all film companies are required to contact the following City personnel prior to the start of their production:

  1. Kathleen Chamberlain, City of Ann Arbor Fire Marshal and Motion Picture/Television Fire Safety Officer Certified by the State of California Fire Marshal, to ensure proper life and fire safety precautions are in place. She can be reached at (734) 794-6962, e-mail: kchamberlain@a2gov.org
  2. Sargeant Lyle Sartori, City of Ann Arbor Police Services, to ensure traffic control and police assistance needs are met. He can be reached at (734) 794-6940, e-mail: lsartori@a2gov.org
