 City Administration 

 

City Administration Services Area contains four service units:

City Administrator's Office

The City Administrator also serves in a highly visible capacity as an ambassador for the community and to other governmental agencies. Duties include: General Administration; Organizational Development; Community Relations; Intergovernmental Relations; Council Support/Relations; City Budget & Financial Planning; and Human Resources & Labor Relations.

City Clerk

The City Clerk serves as the Chief Elections Officer and administrator of all city elections.  The Clerk's Office maintains records of all Council proceedings, serves as custodian of city ordinances, city contracts, voter registrations and other public documents.  The office issues domestic partnership and termination agreements, dog and bike licenses, noise, block and banner permits.

Communications Office

The City of Ann Arbor Communications Office is committed to communication practices that enhance citizen and employee understanding of city objectives, issues, decisions and challenges. The Communications Office also operates Community Television Network (CTN), one of the oldest access television operations in the country. Funded from cable franchise fees, CTN offers Ann Arbor residences and non-profit organizations free multimedia resources and video training opportunities. CTN's local programming is available online via Video on Demand and via Comcast cable channels 16, 17, 18 and 19. 

Human Resources

The Human Resources Department handles all aspects of the employment process with the City, including posting available positions, assisting in the hiring of new employees, coordinating benefits for employees, and orienting and providing training for employees.  HR is also responsible for workers' compensation claims.
