Hiring processes generally take up to 4 weeks to complete.
There are two types of positions available with the City: Regular and Temporary. We only accept online applications for posted positions.
Position postings are updated regularly. The posting includes the position title, a short description of the duties and the qualifications needed for the position. In addition, the application deadline is listed, if a deadline applies. Most positions stay open and posted for two weeks. Position postings are also regularly broadcast on CTN, Comcast Cable TV, Channel 16.
Regular Positions
Positions that are considered ongoing in nature are "regular". They can be full-time or part-time and may or may not be union-affiliated positions.
Temporary Positions
These positions typically last up to 9 months. They do not include benefits and are not represented by a bargaining unit.
Police and Firefighter Positions
Applications for positions in the Police and Fire Department are only accepted when there is an announced hiring process, at that time, the openings will be listed in our Position Postings.
