Bandemer Park is a natural area along the Huron River. The park is accessed off North Main at Lake Shore Drive and off Barton Drive where it meets Whitmore Lake Road. The park features accessible trails through the main body of the park, restrooms, benches, accessible canoe dock, fishing deck, shelter, picnic areas, and grills. Dirt foot paths wander throughout the site, with views of the river and other unique habitat prevalent. Brochures are available for this park. Bandemer is directly west across the river from Argo.
- Age: Acquired in 1985 with funds donated by Ted and Mary Bandemer
- Size: 36.9 acres
- Ecosystem types: dry prairie, old field, wet forest, wet shrubland, mesic forest, and wet meadow
The northern portion of the property was used as pasture land and as stockyards for the railroad. Much of the interior of the park was used as a dumping ground. About one fifth of Bandemer is old river channel that has been filled in. As a result of these disturbances, many of the plants are exotic invasives.
