Adopt A Park

 Adopt-A-Park

The City of Ann Arbor owns over 2000 acres of park land at 162 parks.  We've had thousands of volunteers help to improve these areas - we would love your help in caring for all of these parks.

Regional parks like Veterans Memorial Park, and neighborhood parks like Baxter, Churchill Downs, and Scheffler need neighbors and park users to take up their cause. Some volunteers have been planting and maintaining flower beds; maintaining the trails and paths; painting and caring for park structures; cleaning up litter; planting, mulching, and watering trees; generally making sure the park is in order. Each park has it's own atmosphere and its own needs and each volunteer has their own interests.  You can work on any number of activities in your favorite park!

Adopt-A-Park Fall Recap

This fall was a remarkable season for Adopt-A-Park.  Thank you to all of our volunteers and neighborhood adopters who helped make this autumn such a success!  Check out all the work that was accomplished:

The neighbors of Huron Highlands planted trees and a flower garden around their park sign.  Kathy Winstrom's Class of Huron High School picked up trash, cleared some invasive shrubs, and woodchipped around trees at Furstenberg Park.  The friends of Lansdowne Park put in a magnificant rainwater garden.  The Brookside crew did some zealous wood chipping around all of their trees, as did Phi Rho Sorority at Burns Park.  The nieghbors of Hunt Park picked up around the playground and planted 8 trees.  Friends of Wurster Park organized tree plantings.  Neighbors of Maryfield Wildwood came out to weed flower beds and mulch around trees.  Thank you to everyone that was involved in these projects!!!

Adopt-A-Garden

Are you looking for some recognition for a job well done or a little advertising for your business? Adopt-A-Garden gives recognition for gardens that are planted and maintained by a person, group or business. Many locations are available or let us know about a garden that you would like to make your own. Signs are placed with your name acknowledging your commitment to the garden.
