 A2D2: Ann Arbor Discovering Downtown

In September 2006, City Council established the Ann Arbor Discovering Downtown (A2D2) initiative to implement the high priority recommendations of the Downtown Development Strategies Project

Council also established a steering committee to work with staff to ensure ongoing communication regarding the implementation plan.  The Ann Arbor Discovering Downtown Steering Committee  is:

  • Marcia Higgins - City Council
  • Evan Pratt - Planning Commission
  • Roger Hewitt - Downtown Development Authority

Phase i Priority Actions

In 2007, advisory committees for each of the five initial high priority actions developed recommendations for changes to city codes and policies.  These recommendations have been approved by City Council and implementation is now underway.  To learn more, click on the links below.

Phase II Priority Actions

The A2D2 Steering Committee currently is evaluating additional actions to pursue.  Projects under consideration include affordable housing development, an update of the zoning ordinance, and economic development strategies.  Check back for additional information as the actions are identified.
