Ann Arbor Housing Commission (AAHC) seeks to provide desirable housing and related supportive services for low-income individuals and families on a transitional and/or permanent basis. AAHC will partner with housing and service providers to build healthy residential communities and promote an atmosphere of pride and responsibility.

Application recieved for the Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List have been reviewed. 500 applicants were selected for placement on the waiting list using a lottery based system. Notifications were mailed on 11/12/12. If you have not received notification you may check your status by calling (734) 794-6720.

The Ann Arbor Housing Commission (AAHC) has developed its Agency Plan for FY2013-2014 in compliance with the Quality Housing and Work Responsibility Act of 1998. A Public Hearing will be held on March 20, 2013, at Miller Manor Community Room, 727 Miller Ave, Ann Arbor, 48103 at 6:00 PM. It is available for review from February 25, 2013 to April 10, 2013 at following locations in Ann Arbor:

Rental Assistance Demonstration Program Public Meeting Notice and FAQ
All Public Housing Residents:
The AAHC has completed its revision of its lease and encourages residents to review the new lease. The new lease and a redlined version comparing the old and new lease are available on the website at www.a2gov.org/housingcommission and a hard copy is available at the Miller, Baker, and Ashley offices. The AAHC will take the proposed lease to the Board on January 16, 2012 for approval. If approved by the Board, the lease will take effect a minimum of 60 days later. The projected start date for the new lease is April 1, 2013. All tenants will be required to sign the new lease in order to maintain tenancy.

The AAHC is considering applying to HUD to convert public housing units to long-term section 8 units in order to access private capital to rehabilitate the public housing units. There are 6 public meetings scheduled with tenants to discuss the process and the impact on residents. (click HERE for meeting schedule) Here is a HUD summary of the program. Changes to the Ann Arbor Housing Commission Flat Rent Schedule will be made effective January 1st. A public notice and review period is scheduled for October 1st, 2012 through October 31st, 2012. A copy of the Flat Rent Analysis, Notice Letter, and Comment Form can be found here.
