Anyone having a monitored alarm system is required to obtain an alarm connection permit.
Chapter 93, Section 7:403 of the Ann Arbor Code of Ordinances (pdf) requires that an alarm connection permit be obtained prior to operating any alarm system that terminates directly or indirectly at the Ann Arbor Police Department. “Directly or indirectly terminates” means that the alarm is sent directly to the Police Department via a telephone line or indirectly through an alarm company's central monitoring station.
On the alarm connection permit application (pdf) you will be asked to furnish us with at least three names, addresses and telephone numbers of individuals with keys for the business/home who can be contacted day or night and have the ability to shut off burglar alarms.
If the information you provided us on your alarm connection permit application (pdf) changes, please advise us as soon as possible. You may simply fill out the alarm connection permit application (pdf) and check the box at the top of the form that states, "UPDATING Information".
For more information please contact Sergeant Ed Dreslinski at (734) 794-6988.
