Catherine St. Water Main Replacement Project

Project Overview

The purpose of this project is to replace existing 6 - inch water main with a 16- inch water main along Catherine Street from Glen Ave. to Zina Pitcher Pl. Existing 6 - inch water main is under sized and do not provide adequate Fire Protection to area.  Following the installation of the water main, Catherine Street will have the trench concrete and asphalt patched to match the existing pavement

Schedule

Work on a project is scheduled to begin on May 2, of 2011, and is anticipated to be complete in June of 2011.

Impact on Traffic & Local Residents

During construction, it will be necessary for our contractor to close Catherine Street from Glen Ave. to Zina Pitcher Pl. Access to Catherine Rd. at the corner of Catherine St. and Zina Pitcher will be maintained at all times. Pedestrian movement along Catherine Street will be maintained during the construction with the exception of some short periods of time when the water main installation crosses the sidewalk.  Local delivery will be maintained throughout the project.

Water service will be maintained during construction, except for brief periods when the new water main is tied in to the existing main, and when house services are transferred to the new main.  Written notice will be given to residents and businesses at least two days before these shutoffs. We will work with the affected businesses to minimize the disruptions while this work is being completed.

Unfortunately, the construction will generate dust and noise, and will cause some inconvenience.  We would like to thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation during the project.

Progress Updates

Once construction is ready to begin, we will be sending out e-mail updates to anyone interested in receiving them.  If you would like to receive these progress/schedule updates, please send an e-mail to ikotlyar@a2gov.org and you will be added to the list.
