Michigan Green Schools Certification

Michigan Green Schools Certification 2011-2012

The state of Michigan has an official Michigan Green School Law, which encourages all public and private schools to participate in easy to administer energy saving and environmental activities in a suggested plan with 24 choices. Any school that achieves 10 of these points in an academic year will receive an official Michigan Green School Designation.  For the 2011-2012 school year, applications are only available online (paper-free!)

Go to http://www.lawmasc.net/greenschools.htm and register for the listserv if you are not already receiving the Livingston/Washtenaw Green School Emails. This is the only way to get the link to submit your application!

Important Dates:

  • January 1st: Recieve application email through list-serv (must sign up before!)
  • February 1st: Applications begin to be accepted
  • March 1st: APPLICATION DEADLINE (at midnight)*
  • Mid-March: School will be contacted about your Green School status
  • April 16th: Green School Award Ceremony (4:30pm - 6:00pm at the Washtenaw Intermediate School District)

*March 1st will be annual deadline for Green School applications every year from now on.
