Q: I am having trouble locating my permit number when I conduct a search.
A: Be sure to enter the permit number exactly as it appears on your permit. The number needs to be entered in the “search for” field.
Q: Why can’t I locate the job address when I do a search?
A: The first drop down box needs to say: “Site Address.” Do not include the Street, Avenue (Ave.) or Road (RD.) at the end of the address. For example: Enter 1301 Hutchins NOT 1301 Hutchins Ave.
Alternative
If you leave the first drop down box at “Site Address,” and change the second drop down box to “contains” you may enter just the street name or the street number in the “search for” field to maximize your search. For example: Enter 1301 OR Hutchin.
Q: Why can’t I pick a date for my inspection?
A: You have to click “Add Inspection” before the date drop down box will appear.
Q: Can I choose what time I want the inspector to conduct the inspection?
A: You can pick A.M. or P.M. or ANY from the drop down list. The City of Ann Arbor will do it’s best to accommodate this request, but depending on the inspector’s schedule, we may not always be able to honor your request.
Q: How will I know the system accepted my request for an inspection?
A: If you entered an e-mail address in the “e-mail” field, you will receive an e-mail confirmation that automatically verifies the information you submitted.
Q: What if I don’t have an e-mail address?
A: You can still schedule an inspection using the eTrakit system, but you will not receive a confirmation e-mail stating we received your request.
Q: How am I able to view/check when the inspector is scheduled to perform the inspection?
A: Conduct a search using a permit or site address and find the appropriate permit. Scroll down to “Inspection Information”. Click/select “Click Here for Details.” This will give you a two-hour time frame for the inspector’s estimated time of arrival.
Can I cancel an inspection from eTrakit?
A: No. You have to cancel all inspections through the IVR phone system at 734.794.6267 . Press (3) to cancel an inspection and then follow the prompts. Thank you.
How to use eTRAKiT to schedule an inspection
Use our e-TRAKiT online permitting system to access planning and building records and general Planning & Development information. Search by permit number, contractor and case (code enforcement) records.
To access permit information:
1. Visit www.a2gov.org/etrakit
2. Click the PERMIT SEARCH button from the permit homepage.
3. The first drop down box reads PERMIT NUMBER. Note: This can be changed to SITE ADDRESS or other search options.
4. Enter your permit number in the SEARCH FOR box.
5. Click SEARCH.
On the results screen click your PERMIT NUMBER.
On the permit display screen you will see Site, Permit, Contact, Payment, Inspection and Review Information. To schedule an inspection, the permit status has to be ISSUED:
1. Click INSPECTION REQUEST tab. If your permit is not issued you will not see the Request Inspection Tab.
2. Fill in the contact information and any additional information in the remarks field. * All fields are required to be completed.
3. Click the INSPECTION LIST drop down box to select the inspection type.
4. Click ADD INSPECTION.
5. Click the REQUESTED DATE drop down to select a date for your inspection.
6. Click the TIME drop down to select AM, PM or ANY TIME. Note: The City of Ann Arbor cannot guarantee this request will be honored, however, we will do our best to arrive within the requested time period. 7. Click SUBMIT.
7. Confirmation for the address selected will appear.
8. Click OK to confirm.
Note: Inspections cannot be cancelled via eTRAKiT. You must call the IVR system at 734.794.6267.
