With your help, we will learn more about salamander abundance and distribution around town. If you have some identification experience and a willingness to get muddy, please join us. In this training session, we will be learning about the animals in an indoor setting, in preparation for going outdoors in early spring and summer. Salamander Survey training occurs annually in March. Please check the events calendar for additional information on this training!

Spend this winter getting to know the area’s salamanders’ appearance and habitat. Go out in the field and familiarize yourself with the parks whenever you can, then come to the kickoff next spring and learn how to record your observations and hone your skills. Surveying is done three to six times during early spring at multiple sites, and each visit takes a few hours.
